WHAT IS LUPUS?

Lupus is a disease that strikes thousands around the world and yet most of the public has little or no knowledge of what it is.  Here is a clear and concise description of what the disease, lupus, is, what the symptoms are and how the disease can be treated.  Medical doctors who treat lupus patients provide these details and lupus patients describe how the disease started with each of them, the painful struggles they have had to endure and how they deal with it on a daily basis.  These patients today look normal on the outside, but their compelling stories about what goes on inside, will overwhelm you.

“It is very important for you to work with your rheumatologist to select the appropriate medications but also to be involved in your care to work on lifestyle management factors that could help you to control your lupus with less medications, less side effects and lead to a better outcome.”

–Barry Shibuya, MD, Rheumatologist

“…[WHAT IS LUPUS?] will further increase public awareness of the disease, and will provide us with another tool to educate people about the symptoms of lupus and its impact on individuals and their families.”

– Lupus Foundation of America
